It goes without saying that we hoped to launch our Inuits.krk blog with a more joyous occasion, but the reality across our border decided otherwise. The horrible events in Ukraine have shaken the entire Inuits family to its core. Our Kyiv office has a long history and about everyone in the Kraków office has friends and / or relatives in Ukraine.
From Hope to ActionAs from Thursday, Feb 24th, we supported, and we will continue to do so.
- We turned 50 % of our office space into a refugee shelter, primarily to help relatives of our team;
- we organised collections to help refugees to restart;
- we set up a collaboration with a care house for refugee children and gave the team extra holiday to spend time there with the children.
But all of the above is focused on the refugees that came ‘overnight’ to Poland, and we know that more help is needed in Ukraine itself.
There are currently around 1.2 - 1.4 million Ukrainian refugees in Poland (another 1 - 1.1 million have left for other destinations). Over 600,000 have formally registered: 51% are children; 43% women aged 19-65; 3% men; 3% over 65. Data from @MaciekDuszczyk and @BartoszMarczuk.

- We guaranteed our Kyiv colleagues their salaries while they searched for safety, while colleagues temporarily supported their jobs;
- we selected two hospitals in Ukraine that we want to provide with the necessary medication and equipment.
Through personal contacts, the Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital and the Khmelnitsky NPP provided us with lists (see below) of urgent items. These include gloves, bandages, cannulas, syringes, hemostatic tourniquets, stretchers, etc.
Extending a Helping Hand
To handle the financial aspects of the fundraising in all transparency, we are partnering with the local branch of Fundacja Pomoc Maltanska, which we selected to avoid any commissions, while complying with government NGO-regulations.
